Requirements

• Primary education and/or relevant experience; O’ Level Certificate
• At least 10 years of driving experience
• At least 5 years of experience driving for diplomatic or other international actors in Kampala (Embassies, European Union, United Nations staff)
• A clean driving record
• Valid Ugandan driving licence
• Good knowledge of the Kampala road network and route planning
• Service-oriented attitude towards internal and external users — fast, proactive, personalised and effective service with transparency and integrity
• Respect for others and openness to ideas, opinions and cultural differences
• Reliability, trustworthiness and loyalty — act honestly, respect ethical principles including confidentiality and integrity

Responsibilities

• Driver — ensure the safe transport of people (internal or external to the post) and property (mail, equipment, etc.) within planned deadlines, to defined places, and in accordance with local driving regulations and rules of conduct
• Before each journey, prepare the best route by consulting maps, GPS, etc. according to the state of the roads, traffic and weather conditions
• Collect or drive personnel or visitors of the post to meetings and external activities following the most suitable route
• Collect or drive visitors to and from the airport
• Ensure that all required vehicle documents (registration, insurance, circulation tax, etc.) are up to date and present in the vehicle when travelling
• Technical and logistics support — implement or help to implement certain technical and/or logistical works in support of the daily functioning of the post
• Office tasks such as scanning, shredding and archiving of documents under the supervision of the consular and administrative team
• Carry out small repairs, painting, packaging, maintenance and installation tasks (e.g. replacing light bulbs)
• Help with cleaning, supplies, and other support tasks as required
• Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Administration/HR
